NP Event Venues Team




RON MURRAY, MANAGER VENUES & EVENTS – RECREATION & CULTURE
Ron is in his second spell with NPDC, having worked as Manager Events from 2005-2008. He returned 'home' to New Plymouth in 2013 after five years in Queensland working as an Events Manager with Fraser Coast Regional Council and then Manager of the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre in the same region. Originally from the UK he spent nine years at the Royal Marines School of Music and after becoming established in events and leisure management there, emigrated to New Zealand in 2000. He has run his own events and sponsorship business and held senior management positions in events, venues, tourism, sports coaching and development in the UK, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.




NELITA BYRNE, VENUES LEAD
Nelita oversees the strategic development and business plan in her role leading the team that manages the venue operations. Prior to this role Nelita was Venue Manager of the TSB Showplace with Taranaki Arts Festival Trust. Nelita has over 10 years' experience working in the industry and is a AVM, member of VMA and a graduate of VMS. She has served on the board of EVANZ and PANNZ. HAYLEY OLLIVER, EVENTS LEAD
Hayley oversees the Council events team who deliver a portfolio of community events and programmes including the award winning TSB Festival of Lights, The Taranaki Home and Lifestyle Expo and Waitangi Day celebrations. Hayley has a strong commercial background with previous roles including Business Development Manager (Grabone) and Event and Exhibition Manager (Auaha Events). With extensive experience in event management, sponsorship, sales and marketing Hayley has a successful track record in developing and delivering exceptional events.




SALLY-ANNE COATES, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Before moving to New Zealand, Sally-Anne worked in marketing and business development for a number of high profile companies in the UK including Wembley Stadium Ltd, Royal Doulton and T-Mobile. During her time as a NP Event Venues team member Sally-Anne has helped bring to life such events as the FIFA U20 World Cup, T20 Supersmash Cricket and the Home and Lifestyle Expo. If you are looking to host a sporting event, expo, corporate function or social occasion at any of our venues Sally-Anne is the one to call.




PENNY BURMESTER, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Penny has a varied background in customer service, hospitality and conference management in both the UK and New Zealand. Penny began working with the NPDC in customer service and has been with the NP Event Venues team since 2006, assisting with the creation of multiple events for clients. With a passion for the theatre, Penny specialises in events held at the TSB Showplace. Contact Penny if you are looking to hold an event at any of our venues, whether it be corporate, social or a performing arts spectacular. 




ANGELA WASLEY, VENUES & EVENTS ADMINISTRATOR
Angela has been part of the NP Event Venues team since February 2015. Angela shares the team's administration tasks with Shannon Bishop while also assisting with a variety of venue projects and supporting the Business Development Officers. Angela has worked in a variety of Executive Assistant, Event and Project Support roles both here and overseas.




LISA EKDAHL, EVENTS ORGANISER
Lisa’s main role involves the programming, operations and delivery of the onstage entertainment programme at TSB Festival of Lights. Other roles include assisting the venues team during major events and providing support for various events held within New Plymouth. Lisa has ten years’ experience in event management, mostly in artist liaison roles across WOMAD and as the festival manager of the Taranaki Garden Spectacular.




SOPHIE KELLY, CENTRAL CITY FACILITATOR
Sophie is the new Central City Facilitator at NPDC with a main focus to facilitate, develop and deliver a programme of events to create vibrancy in the New Plymouth CBD. Sophie has Major Event experience from her most recent role as Commercial Coordinator for World Masters Games 2017 the largest multi-sport event in the world. She also has worked on various projects in the UK and Australia gaining experienced in event management, sponsorships, marketing and communications.




SHARINA PARSOTTAM, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR
Sharina joined the New Plymouth Event Venues team in 2016. She previously did four years as marketing coordinator at the Taranaki Arts Festival Trust where she worked on a number of festivals including WOMAD, Tropfest New Zealand and the Taranaki International Arts Festival. She enjoys supporting our clients with all things marketing, and takes pleasure in the variety of responsibilities that this involves.

JULIE JOHNS, YARROW STADIUM COORDINATOR
Julie has worked at the Council for 13 years, the last seven as the Yarrow Stadium Coordinator. She also has wide experience in other Council venues and an excellent understanding of how to meet client needs. Prior to this, Julie spent 10 years working in Auckland, Sydney, Ireland and the UK in a range of customer service roles.




KEN ROYCROFT, YARROW STADIUM OPERATIONS

Ken has been at the venue since April 2013 and with his previous experience and approachable personality he is able to realise client visions for venue set-up and event delivery.

NEIL FENWICK, TSB STADIUM & TSB BOWL OF BROOKLANDS COORDINATOR
Neil returned to the NP Event Venues team in 2016 after spending a number of years developing his business skill set. Previously, Neil held the position of Operations Co-Ordinator for TSB Stadium, TSB Showplace and TSB Bowl of Brooklands. Neil has many years of experience in the events and entertainment industry, both in New Zealand, as well as touring overseas with professional theatre productions. Neil enjoys working on the production of events and assisting the NP Event Venues team in bringing major events to New Plymouth.




ELI PAURINI, TSB STADIUM & TSB BOWL OF BROOKLANDS OPERATIONS
Eli has been working in various positions for the TSB Stadium for eight years, starting off as a casual on-call worker. He has worked his way up to be the full time Operation’s Supervisor. Eli will meet with clients and work alongside the teams at both TSB Stadium and TSB Bowl of Brooklands to ensure delivery of first class events.

Ticketing




KRISTAL JENKINS, TICKETING COORDINATOR
Kristal oversees the day-to-day operations of the ticketing team across all four of our venues and is based at the TSB Showplace. After completing her degree in Hotel Management and Tourism at PIHMS, Kristal went travelling overseas working in hotels and large function centres in Australia. Returning home she continues to work in the industry she loves and is passionate about.




RENEE OWEN, CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER - TICKETING
Renee is the Full-time CSO that provides ticketing services to all NP Event Venues and is based at the TSB Showplace.  She has an extensive background in customer service, administration and financial services.




VICKY CHRISTENSEN, TICKETING

 

Vicky is a Part time Customer Support Officer who provides ticketing services at all our venues and is based at the TSB Showplace.

MEGAN BROWN, TSB SHOWPLACE COORDINATOR
Megan has a background in fundraising events from the UK, specifically in the not-for-profit health sector and has been part of the TSB Showplace team since 2011 under the management of Taranaki Arts Festival Trust. Megan has a passion for audience development and increasing exposure to the arts, particularly for younger audiences.




DAVID LIGGETT, TSB SHOWPLACE OPERATIONS
David has an extensive background in retail management and over the years he has been seen on both sides of the venue, showing his talent as a performer on stage and also showing his experience in coordinating the operations of our events at the TSB Showplace - among everything else!

Having been with the team since 2006, David’s knowledge of the venue is second to none and he is known for his organisational skills, detailed lists, passion and creativity.




LUKE MILLARD, TSB SHOWPLACE OPERATIONS
Luke’s primary role as Operations Officer, has him responsible for executing the diverse range of events held at the TSB Showplace, while getting stuck into general ops as part of the wider team for our district’s major events.  Recently returning from several years in the Sydney events industry, Luke brings home an array of corporate, catering, and cultural event operations experience.  He is equally passionate about events as he is about our home, and is dedicated to firmly planting New Plymouth on the world map as cultural hub, buzzing with activity!
