Taranaki Symphony Orchestra: Mercy Plays Mendelssohn
Young Taranaki star pianist, Mercy Jones, returns as soloist with Taranaki Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Adam Jasinski, to play the Mendelssohn Second Piano Concerto.
Mercy amazed audiences when she first appeared with the orchestra at the age of 9, with her prodigiously brilliant technique and a sense of musicianship far beyond her years. She has continued to delight in ensuing concerts over the years and we have all watched as she has developed into a truly outstanding musician. Take this chance to hear her play this ravishing work before she heads to wider horizons.
The programme also includes two Beethoven favourites: the magnificent Leonora Overture No. 1 and the unequalled Symphony No. 6 “The Pastoral”. Many of us have come to realise how privileged we are to enjoy live orchestral music in the concert hall - make the most of this special opportunity.
