The Peacemakers

Ars Nova Choir, with our director Christopher J Luke, is excited to join together with Jubilate Choir from New Plymouth Girls' High School to present "The Peacemakers" by the ever-popular Karl Jenkins. The choirs will be accompanied by Ars Antiqua Chamber Orchestra, with soloist Juliet Woller.

This is a soaring musical celebration dedicated in particular to the innocent civilians caught up in the midst of struggles against political and military might. At times meditative and haunting, at other times, strident and uplifting, this work conveys the simple message of hope, using texts from sacred sources alongside those from well-known 'peacemakers' including Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Anne Frank. Exploring a variety of musical moods and styles to appeal to all ages, "The Peacemakers" aims to inspire contemplation and joy in equal measure.

We are also pleased that The Devon Hotel New Plymouth Brass, directed by Bryce Gordon, will take to the stage.
