Mwambe: A Jungle Adventure

The stage is set, the jungle is calling, and the Academy of Dance Taranaki is ready to bring you a show like no other!

Join us for an unforgettable weekend of movement, music and magic as our talented students take you deep into the wild with Mwambe: A Jungle Adventure.
Our full production follows the story of Mwambe, a courageous young lion cub on her journey to becoming Queen of the Jungle. Along the way, she encounters mysterious creatures, overcomes challenges, and discovers what it truly means to lead with heart. Told through stunning performances in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, and Contemporary, this original work celebrates strength, resilience, and community.

Performed by our New Plymouth and Hāwera dance students, this full-length production will be held on:
Show A – Saturday 2nd August at 7.00pm
Show C – Sunday 3rd August at 7.00pm

Preschool Matinee – Down in the Jungle
For our littlest stars, we proudly present Down in the Jungle, a shorter, age-appropriate version of the show featuring our preschool classes. This playful matinee performance is perfect for families with young children. This is more than just a dance concert—it’s a full-scale production with heart, storytelling, and breathtaking talent from dancers of all ages.
Bring the family, invite your friends, and prepare to be transported into a world where animals dance, jungles sing, and one brave lioness finds her roar.
